‘Cursebreakers’ Series – Brigid Kemmerer

This series contains 3 books; ‘A Curse So Dark and Lonely’; ‘A Heart So Fierce and Broken’; ‘A Vow So Bold and Deadly’. There is also a series set a few years later in the same world, the first book is called ‘Forging Silver into Stars’ and shares its name with its series.

A Brief Summary of Book 1. . .

Fall in love, break the curse.
Prince Rhen, the heir to Emberfall, was cursed by an enchantress, he repeats the autumn of his eighteenth year over and over again. Unless, a girl fell in love with him. Once, Rhen thought that would be easy. Until he learned that at the end of each autumn he turns into a vicious beast that seeks only destruction, until he destroyed his castle, his family, and any remaining shred of hope.

For Harper Lacy, nothing has ever been easy. Her father is long gone, her mother dying, and her brother barely holding the family together. All her life, she has been underestimated because of her cerebral palsy. But, when she attempts to save someone on the streets of Washington, DC, she is somehow taken into Rhen’s cursed world.

Break the curse, save the kingdom.

Powerful forces stand against Emberfall, and it will take more than a broken curse to save it, Harper, Rhen, and his people.

To describe these books and why they were amazing reads, would be to spoil their events for a potential reader. So, I will leave the descriptions simple and spoiler free.

My copies of the ‘Cursebreakers’ series

I really loved this series, once again I tried to pick a favourite, but they are all amazing reads. The world the author created was really interesting and exciting to read. I enjoyed how these were based on ‘Beauty and the Beast’, with many links to the original story while also including modern differences. The characters descriptions were wonderful and I loved following their journeys throughout the trilogy. I would definitely recommend this series to anyone who loves adventures and fairy tale retellings.

“The most dangerous person at the party is always the girl sitting alone with a book.”
