‘Six of Crows’ Duology – Leigh Bardugo

This series has two books – ‘Six of Crows‘ and ‘Crooked Kingdom‘ – , but is part of the larger ‘Grishaverse‘ series which includes the ‘Shadow and Bone‘ series, the ‘King of Scars‘ duology, as well as anthologies. To learn about the series you can visit https://grishaverse.com/.

A Brief Summary of Book 1.

Six dangerous outcasts. One impossible heist.

Kaz Brekker – criminal prodigy – has been offered wealth beyond his wildest dreams. But, to claim it, he’ll have to pull of a seemingly impossible heist;
Break into the notorious Ice Court – a military stronghold that has never been breached.
Retrieve a hostage – who could unleash magical havoc on the world.
Survive long enough to collect his reward – and spend it.

Kaz needs a crew desperate enough to take on this mission, and dangerous enough to get the job done. He knows exactly who:

‘A convict with a thirst for revenge
A sharpshooter who can’t walk away from a wager
A runaway with a privileged past
A spy known as the Wraith
A Heartrender using her magic to survive the slums
A thief with a gift for unlikely escapes’
Kaz and his team is the only thing standing between the world and destruction. If they don’t kill each other first.

To describe these books and why they were amazing reads, would be to spoil their events for a potential reader. So, I will leave the descriptions simple and spoiler free.

My copies of the ‘Six of Crows’ duology

Leigh Bardugo is an amazing author and, while I love all of the books in the ‘Grishaverse‘ series, the ‘Six of Crows‘ duology is my favourite. It is a wonderful world and these two books made me read both the ‘Shadow and Bone‘ series and the ‘King of Scars‘ duology. I loved all the characters in this book as well as the high stakes. I would recommend this duology to anyone who loves heists, magic, and revenge.

“I would have come for you. And if I couldn’t walk, I’d crawl to you, and no matter how broken we were, we’d fight our way out together-knives drawn, pistols blazing. Because that’s what we do. We never stop fighting.”
― Leigh Bardugo, Crooked Kingdom
