‘Voyage of the Damned’ – Frances White

This book is a standalone.

A brief summary…
For thousands of years, Concordia has kept peace between its provinces. To celebrate, the emperor’s ship embarks on a 12 day voyage to the sacred Goddess’ mountain. Aboard are 12 heirs, each with a secret magical blessing. Except Ganymedes Piscero class clown, slacker, and all-around disappointment. When an heir is murdered, everyone is a suspect. Ganymedes’ odds of survival are slim. But, as the bodies pile higher, he must become the hero he was not born to be. Can he unmask the killer before the bloody crusade reaches the shores of Concordia? Or will the empire as he knows it fall?

My copy of the ‘Voyage of the Damned’

I enjoyed reading about the magic in this book as well as trying to solve the mystery. Also, I liked that even though Ganymedes has no powers, the author still shows him trying to solve the mystery and stop the powerful killer. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves magic and mysteries.

“My father always says: ‘You can’t run from your responsibilities,’ but he lacks imagination. Besides, I’m not running. I’m sidestepping. Crossing the road so me and my responsibilities don’t make eye contact and aren’t forced into awkward small talk both of us know isn’t going anywhere.”
